The Cultural-E project was presented at the Bio-architecture and Sustainability Week in Modena, an Italian city nearby one of the four demonstration buildings. The event was hosted by AESS – Agenzia per l’Energia e lo Sviluppo Sostenibile (Energy and Sustainable Development Agency), an Italian NGO which provides energy to private and public entities from renewable energy sources.
The 16th edition of this event was held on the 18-22 November 2019, representing a reference to the specialists in the sustainable design and construction sectors. The session on the 21 November focused on the ‘Decarbonisation of buildings and the transition to renewable electrical energy’. It was promoted in collaboration with the Clust-ER Build (https://build.clust-er.it/en/), the Building and Construction Cluster of the Emilia-Romagna region and also a Cultural-E stakeholder. It is composed of public and private organisations (companies, research centers and training institutions), which share skills, ideas and resources to support the innovation and competitiveness of the construction sector.
During this session, the Cultural-E project was presented by Sandra Dei Svaldi, engineer and researcher at ICIE – Istituto Cooperativo per l’InnovazionE, one of the consortium partners and project advisor for the Mediterranean area. Dei Svaldi focused on Plus Energy Buildings from different perspectives: the technologies to be adopted (specifically systems and ICT), the circular approach to be followed during the design process and the challenges to be faced in the different socio-cultural contexts.
